Adopt a Shelter Animal Month!

Adding a pet to your family is a big decision.

Although falling in love with a furry face is easy, there is much more to pet ownership than just picking out your new friend.

Food, treats, toys, collars and leashes, shelter, training, licensing, and veterinary care all need to be added to the financial equation when you are thinking of adopting or purchasing a pet. Make sure you are financially prepared to provide your new family member with the care they need and deserve.

You can plan, supposing you are going to take care of your pet properly and responsibly, to spend between $900.00 (cat) and $1700.00 (large breed dog) in the first year alone (not including the purchase price if you get your pet from a private party). Additional years range between $300.00 and $600.00 for basic needs and preventive medicine.

When you have decided that you are financially ready, adopting a shelter animal, instead of purchasing from and supporting irreputable breeders, is a wonderful option. Thousands of dogs, cats, and other furry critters are looking for forever homes everyday. Won’t you offer them the chance to warm your heart and home for years to come?
